For my first research blog I wanted to look into animation and the history behind animation like its origin and how it came about. I've always been attracted to animation because I love to draw sketch and have always dreamed of. Binging those things to life and animation is essentially that. Émile Cohl was the first town person to create what we know as traditional animation called the 1908 Fantasmagorie. The film largely consisted of a stick figure moving about and encountering all manner of morphing objects, such as a wine bottle that transforms into a flower. As the world adapted to this new art form an man by the name of Windsor McCay created a piece more advanced and time dedicated animation anyone had seen before, called Gertie the Dinosaur. this animation opened the eyes of all cinematographers and drawing artists because of how detailed the pictures were his short animation. After a while not much had changed until Walt Disney. Walt Disney was the first person to truly bring life to a film through characters and sounds. Since Disney the world has exponentially advanced. Today you can download an app on your phone and create a animation in minuets where back when animation came to be it was an extremely timely process, it still is today but not like it was. But what is cool to look at is the way animation was first created and how its created now is the same basic way but just more advanced.
